In Memory of Jack Raymond Aknin

October 19, 1961 ~ April 27, 2011

Today is the anniversary of Jack's death.

April 27, 2011 seems like years away and yesterday. We miss him terribly.

We recently had Jack's headstone unveiling. See Recent Updates. Pictures will be arriving in a day or so along with more updates.

Dear friends and family,
There is a song that has helped me through this difficult time. Jack would have loved it. I've listened to it many times a day. It compairs every drop of water pulling towards the ocean to the way God pulls our hearts towards Him. It also talks about God, reaching through the ceiling and pulling us to heaven and complete healing. We witnessed this real time. As Jack was loosing his battle with cancer, he became peaceful and would reach up towards heaven. We could see that he was beginning to experience a peace "where tied and tear and pain subside and laughter drinks them dry". It is another world that we were not yet privy to but can be someday. It is by Switchfoot. Lyrics are below.

Exciting News~

In honor of Jack, my sister-in-laws, sister and step sister have come together to raise funds for the Jack Aknin Memorial Bridge to be built by

Harmon Parker, Jack's dear friend and founder of Bridging the Gap Africa. There is nothing that would make Jack happier!

Please check back for more information coming soon.

Jack Aknin

October 19, 1961 ~ April 27, 2011

Our friend, brother, father and husband died peacefully on April 27, 2011 with his family at his side.  In the midst of the great sadness we all feel over losing such a dear friend, there is peace in knowing that he is now restored to perfect wholeness and will never again experience the difficult challenges he has faced these past two years.

A special college fund to help with the Aknin girls college tuition has been established. A memorial can be sent to the "Fight Back For Jack" fund with "college fund" written on the memo line. Donations can be sent to c/o John Isaacs, 4481 Faraone Court, San Jose, CA 95136. Donations can also be made by Paypal on the donation page.

Thank you ALL for the many prayers and loving support you have shown the Aknin family.

RESTLESS

I am the sea on a moonless night
Calling falling, slipping tides
I am the leaky, dripping pipes
The endless, aching drops of light

I am the raindrop falling down
Always longing for the deeper ground
I am the broken, breaking seas
Even my blood finds ways to bleed

Even the rivers ways to run
Even the rain to reach the sun
Even my thirsty streams
Even in my dreams

I am restless, restless, restless
Looking for you
I am restless
I run like the ocean to find your shore
Looking for you

I am the thorn stuck in your side
I am the one that you left behind
I am the dried-up doubting eyes
Looking for the well that won't run dry

Running hard for the other side
The world that I've always been denied
Running hard for the infinite
With the tears of saints and hypocrites

Oh, blood of black and white and grey
Oh, death in life and night in day
One by one by one
We let our rivers run

I can hear you breathing
I can feel you leading
More than just a feeling
More than just a feeling

I can feel you you reaching
Pushing through the ceiling
Til the final healing
I'm looking for you

Until the sea of glass we meet
At last completed and complete
Where tide and tear and pain subside
And laughter drinks them dry

I'll be waiting
Anticipating
All that I aim for
What I was made for

With every heartbeat
All of my blood bleeds
Running inside me
Looking for you

Restless
